My day job was super busy this week - so it was challenging balancing work and my cosplay projects. I laid out the Leather vest for Hugo, and basically need to start cutting and water forming it soon to Hillary's body.
It is my first time working with raw hide so I am super excited and nervous at the same time. Luckily, Hillary is a joy to work with. We also have the guidance of skilled leathersmith - Dan Lombardo of Savage Smith. We picked this 2-3 oz top grain half skin - I laid down the patterns and will be cutting it momentarily.
Hugo wears an elaborate vest under his halter wrap. And since this is Hillary's dream bucket top cosplay, we decided to go all out in buying real leather instead of faux leatherette. Here are a few of Hugo's stylized reference.
And at the end of the day I pulled this out of the pile of junk mail! ... and all my troubles seemed so far away!
